Nicey.. they made this three times; the original in 1961 I believe they made one for PBS back in the mid-1980s and of course the one with Sean Combs Phylicia Rashad for my money the original is always the best. - @Tuesday, January 9, 2018 10:02 PM

The fact tht no actors in the 1961 A Raisin In The Sun were even nominated tells me racism must have caused many other deserving talents to go unnoticed. Bless Lorraine Hansberry, if not for her superb writing talent, and brilliant play..this would not have became prevalent at the time. Honestly I never would have seen this if it weren't for my class showing it, thank God they did. I was moved beyond belief.. I'm just so happy that this play was produced and adapted. To think in this time early 60s, a woman playwright, and not to mention black as well, succeeded in getting a chance to get this play on, that amazes me, it must have been a tough battle w all the old school views back then. I'm thankful it happened. It came at a good timing too - @Saturday, March 22, 2014 3:21 AM

I LOVE this film 2 death!!! I watched this 4 the 10th time a few hours ago on TCM and I just loved it. The grandmother is incredibly strong and takes care of her family, and I truly love and respect that. I wish my mother was like that. - @Saturday, January 23, 2010 8:11 AM

Yeah, there is. He's Beneatha's boyfriend, even though Beneatha likes Asagai more. Her family wants her to date George because he's rich but Beneatha doesn't like him because he's an assimilationist. - @Saturday, April 25, 2009 2:15 PM

I'll disagree... because black people are only 10% of the population, the images we put on flim/tv/audio are important. If we are nationally known as thugs whose only interests are getting high, welfare, fried food, stealing and shaking our asses, and not learning english in the process... those of us that don't behave that way DO suffer. - @Saturday, November 24, 2007 11:15 AM

Soul Plane nor Raisin have anything to do with how far we've fallen. If we stop acting ignorant and just handle our business, we'll be fine. We have to stop blaming other things and people and take responsibility for own actions. - @Wednesday, August 22, 2007 9:45 PM
