A thoroughly shitty job of editing destroys what may have been an interesting and decently produced documentary. Like many whitewater expedition documentaries, it gets too caught up in the logistics and planning which take up 75% of the running time. This, in and of itself, would be forgivable, if weren't for the completely schizophrenic , AADD style of editing that never allows for seeing more than 3 to 4 seconds of continuous whitewater running, but instead bounces from 2 second shot to another 2 second shot, never allowing the viewer to get a feel for the size and the power of the rapids. Add to this the nauseating use of so much fast to slow to real-time motion, that the viewer can never get sense of the speed and difficulty of dealing with the whitewater which renders the whitewater scenes nearly unveiwable. Unfortunately, this schizoid style of editing carries well beyond the whitewater sections and serves to all but ruin the logistics and planning sequences of the documentary as well. To top it off, the local cultures are much ignored in favor of making the program come off as some young , privileged, rich, white kid's homage to himself rather than an epic expedition to achieve a first dissent of a unique river in a exotic land. Perhaps, if you have the attention span of a gnat you may enjoy this nauseating edit of what could have proven to be an exciting tale of adventure and achievement. - @Wednesday, August 2, 2017 3:07 AM
