"Elsa and Fred" is the story of two people who at the end of the road, discover that it's never too late to love and make dreams come true. Elsa has lived for the past 60 years dreaming of a moment that Fellini had already envisaged: the scene in 'La Dolce Vita' at the Fontana di Trevi. The same scene without Anita Ekberg in it, but with Elsa instead. Without Marcello Mastroianni but with that love that took so long to arrive. Fred has always been a good man who did everything he was supposed to do. After losing his wife, he feels disturbed and confused and his daughter decides that it would be best if he moves into a smaller apartment where he ends meeting Elsa. From that moment on, everything changes. Elsa bursts into his life like a whirlwind, determined to teach him that the time he has left to live -- be it more or less -- is precious and that he should enjoy it as he pleases. I loved this - watched it yesterday and came back to watch again. The beginning is not as great at first but it grows so dramatically. Who doesn't think MacLaine and Plummer are wonderful. I loved every inch of the romance. This is MacLaine's best since Terms of Endearment, where she moved up to the top for me as an actress. It's really nice to see a tribute to China Zorrilla because she was a GREAT artist and an extremily good person. I'm a huge fan of this movie, but sadly this version is not as good as the original one. The role of Elsa is quite well played, even though it is not as funny as China, but for me the role of Fred is totally wrong, in this version Fred is angry and quite aggresive, in the original movie he is really cute, sometimes he gets a little bit mad because everyone wants to control his life and his money, but actually he is more depressed than anything, like if life without his wife is pointless and Elsa makes him feels alive again - @Saturday, January 17, 2015 2:49 AM

Very good movie !! It had me laughing and smiling through the whole thing... and I must admit... it brought tears to my eyes at the end of it. A very special story with two legendary actors.
