When American military analyst, Daniel Ellsberg, realizes to his disgust the depths of the US government's deceptions about the futility of the Vietnam War, he takes action by copying top-secret documents that would become the Pentagon Papers. Later, Washington Post owner, Kay Graham, is still adjusting to taking over her late husband's business when editor Ben Bradlee discovers the New York Times has scooped them with an explosive expose on those papers. Determined to compete, Post reporters find Ellsberg himself and a complete copy of those papers. However, the Post's plans to publish their findings are put in jeopardy with a Federal restraining order that could get them all indicted for Contempt. Now, Kay Graham must decide whether to back down for the safety of her paper or publish and fight for the Freedom of the Press. In doing so, Graham and her staff join a fight that would have America's democratic ideals in the balance.

Why only the Vietnam War? What about ET's UFOs and their million year old visitation to Earth? What about abandoned Alien bases on the far side of the moon? What about Kennedy's murder which was a insider job? US Govt knows a lot of secrets hidden not only from the US public but the world at large. - @Wednesday, November 14, 2018 10:23 PM

Vietnam war was a badly planned bloody brutal war that could never have been won despite total US air power and boots on the ground bcoz the enemy knew the jungles terrain and the country side despite having no air cover at the beginning. If 1 GI Air Cav or Marine died it was difficult to find replacements but if 1 VC or NVA got killed 10 more would take their place to fight. The VC and NVA were a determined lot to the last man and woman. Only way to defeat the Communist Vietnamese would have been nukes but that would destroyed Americas image in the rest of the world severely. Even if America would have defeated the North Vietnamese, The Chinese and the Russians would have been involved with dangers of starting WW-III. - @Wednesday, November 14, 2018 10:20 PM

You know I'm just watch this movie it's spinning a tail that the Washington Post out of their patriotism for journalism this could be the case but who owns the post now is not an honorable man yes he's rich that does not make you aren't evil Bill Gates probably used to be but now he's went off the deep end. I've watched all the presidents men about the Washington Post figured out the story on Nixon and got him impeached scenario what if it was chose to get Nixon out of the White House instead of killing him like they did JFK a few years earlier scenario mind you check out the Washington Post it's always been for the government by the government anyway .Fact JP Morgan bought up 25 of the best American newspapers I believe the Rothschilds already did this in Europe a few decades earlier and so he can control the media of the day which was newspapers. It said that he died almost penniless most of his resources came from Rothschild Enterprises I don't know but it sounds awful fishy to me and now you've got such great actors portraying the post as some great love for journalism and if you can watch the news and believe what they say you're either on drugs need to be on drugs or like most Americans just don't pay attention. - @Monday, October 29, 2018 3:37 AM

It was an OK movie, nothing outstanding, surely not anything award-worth from Streep and Hanks. Molly's Game lead actress Jessica Chastain was without question Outstanding yet received no nominations at the oscars. - @Wednesday, October 3, 2018 12:30 AM

I am not per se a Spielberg, Streep or Hanks fan. But this movie was thrilling in every way. The best part about it was that the suspense didn't come from action, gun-shooting, swearing-packed scenes but from thrill and the overall greatness of the storyarc and editing. Absolutely go watch it. In line with Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy. 10/10 - @Monday, September 10, 2018 5:12 PM

It will be difficult for people to see, but. I ask you to do one thing (as someone who took TIME to teach her children correctly...) I always told my children that the IMPORTANCE of 'history' is this....there is a tennis ball in play at a tennis court. There is a snapshot taken and BOTH players shoulders are down (or up). You see the tennis ball in play but because you can NOT see from whence it comes....THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN KNOW WHERE IT IS GOING. THE TRAJECTORY (history) is the ONLY INDICATOR - @Thursday, September 6, 2018 7:12 PM

A very good movie. But as a TV show buff I was especially geeked out by the cast. I loved the Bob Odenkirk - Matthew Rhys scene, as I'm a huge fan of both Better Call Saul and The Americans. There were also people from the cast of Fargo and The Office involved. An amazing cast for secondary characters! - @Sunday, July 29, 2018 11:30 PM

Shame WaPo died, now it's just another part of the Deep State. Bezos bought it for a song then handed it over to the CIA for a shitload of tax payer money. All these people are spinning in their graves. See how the Fed mocks Jackson, this is the same thing, Spielberg mocks Graham. If you want your country back now you'll have to secede. - @Monday, July 23, 2018 1:25 PM

this movie was bad just like every other Steven Spielberg movie made in the last 18 years except for minority report and war of the worlds. Spielberg has lost his way. Meryl Streep did not deserve her Oscar nomination. Bob Odenkirk was the best thing about this film. - @Tuesday, July 10, 2018 7:23 PM

Meryl Streep may not be a half bad actress if she can pull off pretending she gives a 'rat's arse' about freedom of the press, given that she was a supporter of 'Killary' Clinton against Trump in 2016. You would never see Streep take on any government 'official story', whether as a journalist or as herself as a private citizen. Do you hear Streep or, for that matter, Tom Hanks condemning the BS movies about the Sandy Hook 'school shooting' or the Boston Marathon 'bombing'. These two could care less about what a sham, lying-to-itself country we have more and more become since the days of the Pentagon Papers and the relative 'picnic' that Watergate was. - @Monday, June 18, 2018 12:29 PM
