The young D'Artagnan arrives in Paris with dreams of becoming a king's musketeer. He meets and quarrels with three men, Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, each of whom challenges him to a duel. This trailer cracks me up! Romance! *two guys kissing on the cheek!* Chivalry! *d'Artagnan kicks Milady* Fun! *guy runs into a tree* That's a shit ton of romance, chivalry, and fun right there! - @Wednesday, November 21, 2012 11:35 PM

watching heston, dunaway & lee as the bad guys was good chemistry. if modern Republicans could be as ruthless, but stylish like these politicos ... they'd own the United States. - @Saturday, October 20, 2012 3:27 PM

actually, in the original 1844 french version of the novel, d'artangnan beds both milady and kitty. the 1845 english translation, written in the victorian age, censored this. and dumas never explains milady's motives either! regardless, if i've got raquel welch, faye dunaway and geraldine chaplin in the same film, damn right i'm going to show them having sex! - @Wednesday, August 1, 2012 12:48 PM

So much humour in this version! Definitely my favourite. So what if it takes liberties with the work? I believe it preserves the spirit that Dumas' was trying to capture. It's a film version, take it as it's own piece of work. - @Wednesday, May 30, 2012 1:15 PM

@AncientHistoryBuff "the WORST film version of Alexandre Dumas' epic novel. too many liberties with the novel" ---- So, the 2011 version with flying ships is much more true to the original? =P - @Tuesday, February 14, 2012 12:59 PM

best version ever, and that includes part 2 and return of the musquetrres from 1989 - @Wednesday, March 30, 2011 10:07 AM

Whilst this film does have a lot of comedy thrown in, there's some proper attention paid to character and story too. Oliver Reed's portrayal of Athos is incredible. The screenplay was by George MacDonald Fraser, who wrote the Flashman novels, so, of course, there's a bit of a further pull towards swashbuckling and humour and plenty of bawdiness too. But I feel it's very faithful to the novel in that you see more of the story as if you were one of the musketeers. You follow their journey... - @Sunday, March 27, 2011 2:33 AM

@JuanMacready I did, sorry but I didn't like the Dumas story having the flavor of a glossy musical. - @Sunday, March 13, 2011 3:43 AM

@TheAwesomeRetards798 I believe you have never red the book. So I think you should close your mouth, couse you cant say anything, when you dont know anything. :) And this is parody, not a normal movie. I hope you know a difenerence. And Im waiting the new movie too, cous I love to see how it looks like, in Hollywoods mind. :) - @Monday, November 8, 2010 8:49 PM

Definitely the best of all the Musketeer movies with the best cast...Dunaway, Lee, Chamberlain, Reed, Welch, Chaplin, Ward etc.... - @Monday, July 12, 2010 7:41 PM

@kenninast Bah, well, whatever. Have your own opinions then. Sucker. - @Wednesday, May 19, 2010 6:35 AM

@spartythespart It is a personal attack though. "you suck" is offensive, no matter what you say. - @Wednesday, May 19, 2010 12:25 AM

@kenninast People take things too seriously. I think you suck for dissing on a great movie, that doesn't make it a personal attack. - @Tuesday, April 13, 2010 10:12 PM

Achim Steigert
@jennifersman Hehehehe! Very few people would agree to that. I am one of those few people, though! I so much enjoyed the scene where they are sitting in that bastion in the center of the battlefield, so they cannot be spied upon. :) - @Tuesday, April 13, 2010 11:32 AM

Achim Steigert
@spartythespart Sheesh! No reason to become personal here. Saying things like "you suck" is not necessary. Ever heard of "everyone is entitled to his opinion"? Bashing people for other opinions is so not done, and so 1990. - @Tuesday, April 13, 2010 11:30 AM

spartythespart
@kenninast Those movies were awesome, you suck. Maybe they weren't accurate to the book they were based on, but the movies themselves alone were gold. - @Tuesday, April 13, 2010 11:22 AM

Great film but The Four Musketeers was even better - @Sunday, January 17, 2010 6:14 AM

@DramaQueenRF Erm... yes because it has an American voiceover rather than a European one... - @Monday, January 4, 2010 10:15 PM

This is the best movie adaptation of the book I ever saw. The Charlie Sheen/Kiefer Sutherland Disney movie was embarassing, and "the Musketeer" was even worse! Haven't seen the '66 version yet, though. - @Sunday, December 13, 2009 1:18 AM

DramaQueenRF
This seems a bit more like a parody of the book and not a serious film (would i be right?) but it looks lie a good laugh reguardless - @Thursday, July 23, 2009 4:52 PM

LOL! One of my favourite all-time films. Thanks! - @Monday, June 9, 2008 8:01 PM
